YouTube Red, YouTube’s paid streaming subscription service, aims to capitalize on the popularity of some of the content giant’s most famous and productive creators, allowing them to make new, original series that are at home and on-brand online. Case in point, two new series aimed at younger audiences that make their debut online tomorrow from fan-favoriteMinecraftcontent creators,DanTDMandTheAtlanticCraft.
First up from DanTDM is his new seriesDanTDM Creates a Big Scene, which features the title personality otherwise known asDan Middletonalongside his animated friends–andDanielle Taboras Eve–in a variety show of sorts. The more traditional animated action-adventure seriesKings of Atlantisfollows the journey of the title characters, Cody and Joe, through their stunning, stylized world. DanTDM Creates a Big Scenefeatures DanTDM and his lively group of animated friends as they battle mayhem and misadventure to keep their brand new live show on the road. Each episode follows their behind-the-scenes exploits as they learn new skills, overcome challenges and find that putting on an epic show isn’t quite as easy as it looks. The program is a mix of live action and animation and co-stars Danielle Tabor as Eve, who also appeared as Angelina Johnson in the first threeHarry Pottermovies. Additionally, DanTDM’s two adorable pugs, who often make cameos on his YouTube channel, are also featured in the program as animated characters of themselves!

It’s that age range thatDanTDM Creates a Big Sceneis made for, but rather than center on anything to do withMinecraft, it’s populated by DanTDM’s characters and creations, including the animated pugs Ellie & Darcie, Mr. Pig, Evil Dan, Craig, Dr. Trayaurus, and the aforementioned Eve. For fans of DanTDM, these should be familiar faces, but it doesn’t take long for newcomers to warm up to them. DanTDM plays the live-action straight man opposite these silly supporting players in a variety show of sorts that teases science (without actually doing any, at least in the early goings) and teaches kids a morality lesson. Mr. Pig closes out each episode with a kind of PSA that’s both weird and wacky, which pretty much sums up the kid friendly series. It’s likeSharon, Lois & Bram’s Elephant Showfor the current generation with a modern style that is tailor-made for YouTube Red.

Kings of Atlantis
Kings of Atlantisis a more traditional animated series from theMinecraftmodsTheAtlanticCraftand it’s one that doesn’t require you to be familiar with the pre-existing mythology … but it helps. The series centers on Joe the chicken and Cody the penguin as princes in the underwater kingdom of Atlantis. The premiere finds them ready to take on an even bigger responsibility as the new kings of Atlantis, something the series title promises.
However, there are other powers at work who have different plans for the kingdom, and Joe and Cody are standing square in their way. Before the brothers know it, they find themselves on the wrong side of a coup, cast out of their home. Luckily, they’re not alone; they have the Sneaky Sisters and Professor Pikalus by their side to help them regain the crown and save the citizens of Atlantis from tyrannical rule. It looks like a fun ride for new and old fans of Joe and Cody who get to watch their journey under the sea and their rise to their rightful place as rulers of Atlantis.
