It took some time, but after making her debut inStar Wars: The Clone Wars, Ahsoka Tano slowly became one of the most beloved figures in theStar Warsuniverse. Ahsoka went from being Anakin Skywalker’s Padawan to one of the most powerful Jedi in the galaxy, and she’s since appeared in other projects likeStar Wars: Rebels. She also made her live-action debut for the first time inThe MandalorianSeason 2 and led a show all her own,Ahsoka.Ahsokadebuted its first season in 2023, and while recently speaking with Collider’sSteven Weintraubat Star Wars Celebration to talk aboutThe Mandalorian and Grogu,Dave Filoniprovided a colossal production update onAhsokaSeason 2, revealing the status of the scripts as well as when they plan to begin filming:

“We’re going to start shooting in four days, so I have all the scripts done. There’s a version of them all done, but I always keep working on them as I go. Again, you have to keep evolving them, keep improving them. The whole thing is you have so much time, andyou’ve got to use every second you’ve got to make this thing better. Collaborating with the team and the actors as things evolve and change, you take every moment you’ve got to make it better.”

Ahsokahas much more screen time inStar Wars: The Clone Warsthan she does inStar Wars: Rebels, but theAhsokaseries is more of aRebelscontinuation than it is forClone Wars.Ahsokaeven features the live-action debuts of other characters likeSabine Wren (Natasha Liu Bordizzo),Ezra Bridger (Eman Esfandi), Hera Syndulla (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), andGrand Admiral Thrawn (Lars Mikkelsen). Thrawn is one of the potential figures who could be a major villain inThe Mandalorian & Groguand even inDave Filoni’sNew RepublicMovie. Many fans view Thrawn as one of the more menacing villains ever — high praise for an antagonist in the same franchise asDarth Vader— but he is instead renowned for his strategy and not for his brute strength like the signature Sith Lord.

A ‘Star Wars’ Prequel Icon Returned in ‘Ahsoka’

WhileAhsokapulls more fromRebels, the show does tug at some threads fromThe Clone Warsthat allowed it to bring back aStar Warsmegastar.Hayden Christensenreprised his role as Anakin Skywalker and Darth Vader inAhsoka, showing up in flashbacks to play a Clone Wars-era Anakin opposite a youngAhsoka (Ariana Greenblatt). Christensen had also previously played the character opposite his prequel compatriotEwan McGregorinObi-Wan Kenobi. Christensen’s involvement inAhsokaSeason 2 is currently unknown, but with his ties toAhsokaand high fan approval rating, it would not be surprising to see him return.
