Today is Fox’s day of the week for releasing bits of superhero movie news as evidenced by earlier stories regardingX-Men: Apocalypse. DirectorBryan Singer’slatest mutant movie sees the title heroes attempting to stop the extinction of humankind at the hands of the title villain. It’s not totally clear just which of the heroes or villains from previous films will unite against Apocalypse (Oscar Isaac), but what’s been revealed today is just how Quicksilver (Evan Peters) fits into the mix.
While participating in an interview for his part in FX’sAmerican Horror Story: Hotel, Peters offered up a logline for his speedster character’s role in theApocalypsestoryline. It’s certainly adjacent to the main plot, but his personal quest in the film might just have repercussions that sway the big battle one way or the other.

Here’s the relevant bit of the interview withDetails(viaScreenrant):
So zombie tangent aside, I’m glad they’re picking up on the relationship between Quicksilver and his father (who could be considered a spoiler so we won’t talk about it here). Not only does it give Quicksilver a reason to be involved with the action again, but it puts him right in the middle of the warring factions. While it’s clear that Quicksilver will be fightingagainstApocalypse, it remains to be seen if his father will feel the same way. At the very least, I’m hoping audiences are treated to even one scene that’s as fun as the slow-motion scene fromX-Men: Days of Future Past.
Here’s the official synopsis forX-Men: Apocalypse:
“Since the dawn of civilization, he was worshiped as a god. Apocalypse, the first and most powerful mutant from Marvel’s X-Men universe, amassed the powers of many other mutants, becoming immortal and invincible. Upon awakening after thousands of years, he is disillusioned with the world as he finds it and recruits a team of powerful mutants, including a disheartened Magneto (Michael Fassbender), to cleanse mankind and create a new world order, over which he will reign. As the fate of the Earth hangs in the balance, Raven (Jennifer Lawrence) with the help of Professor X (James McAvoy) must lead a team of young X-Men to stop their greatest nemesis and save mankind from complete destruction.”
