Wolverine 3, the sequel toJames Mangold’sThe Wolverine, is set for release in March of next year, but we haven’t seen anything in terms of a first look image, a teaser, or even a general plot synopsis. This will all change shortly as teased byHugh Jackmanin a recent interview.
Speaking withEntertainment Tonight(viaTHR), he said:
“We’ve finished shooting. I just saw Jim Mangold today. He’s editing away and finishing that. There’s going to be some stuff coming out in the next week or so. That’s all I’ll say. I’m not good. I’m the kind of person who tells everybody everything. Basically it’s going to be different. Very different in tone and hopefully to anything we’ve done.”
We know it’ll be different in tone than previous films, but producerSimon Kinbergconfirmedit’ll be the second R-ratedX-Menmovie afterDeadpool. He also teased a Western vibe for the film, while Jackman himself name-droppedOld Man Loganwhile on stage during San Diego Comic-Con last year.

Elsewhere, we knowWolverine 3(which is still untitled, by the way) will mark Jackman’s last foray in the role, and he’ll be accompanied byPatrick Stewartas Professor Xavier. Other cast members includeBoyd Holbrook,Elizabeth Rodriguez,Stephen Merchant, andRichard E. Grant.
As for the villain, directorBryan Singerrevealedon theX-Men: ApocalypseBlu-ray extras thatMr. Sinister, who was teased in the Apocalypse post-credits scene, would be the main antagonist. However, Mangold playfully cast doubt on social media after the fact. Previous reports claimed the Reavers would be involved some how. It’s kind of miraculous in this age of social media and citizen paparazzi that Fox has been able to keep so much of the film under wraps, but we’ll have more solid answers soon enough.

Wolverine 3is scheduled for theaters on July 03, 2025.
