BasketsSeries Premiere, “Renoir” (FX-E, 10 p.m.) – FX andLouis C.K.team once again for this promising yet overtly cynical comedy of bleakness, starring the talentedZach Galifianakisas the titular classically trained clown who returns from his European schooling to Texas, where he becomes a rodeo clown. Sunday, 1/24

The X-FilesSeason 10 Premiere, “My Struggle” (Fox, 10 p.m.) - After an elongated nine-season run between the 1990s and the aughts, this beloved science fiction procedural returns with a six-episode series that may serve as a test to see if a full-on reboot would be worth pursuing. TheChris Carter-written episodes are not very good, but the ones written and directed by other veterans of the original series recall the zany, dark emotional undercurrents of the original run. As far as second chances go, one could be used in much worse ways than this.
