Poppy (Anna Kendrick) and Branch’s (Justin Timberlake) latest adventure took them through new, unpredictable places, as they tried to find out more about where they came from. Poppy and Branch weren’t ready for what the third installment in the franchise had in store for them.
The plot ofTrolls Band Togetherfollows Branch and Poppy some time after the events ofTrolls World Tour, where Queen Barb (Rachel Bloom) tried to take over every existing musical kingdom with the Hard Rock Trolls. As the leads of the franchise attempt to concentrate on their life as a couple, Branch is visited by John Dory (Eric André), his older brother and the former leader of BroZone. John tells Branch that Floyd (Troye Sivan) had been kidnapped by Veneer (Andrew Rannells) and Velvet (Amy Schumer). With no time left to lose, the crew goes on the road as they try to save Branch’s brother.
Directed byWalt Dohrn,Trolls Band Togetherpremiered in theaters more than three years after its predecessor was released. Dohrn previously worked in the other installments from theTrollsfranchise, co-directing the first movie and helming the second one. He’s also known for voicing small roles inPenguins of MadagascarandThe Boss Baby. The filmmaker was ready to take the series to the next level, with the revelation that both Poppy and Branch had long-lost siblings that gave new context to their journeys.
Will There Be a Fourth ‘Trolls’ Movie?
A sequel toTrolls Band Togetherhasn’t been announced by DreamWorks Animation, bringing Branch and Puppy’s story to a close, for the moment. The studio has been busy working on titles such asKung Fu Panda 4andOrion and the Dark, as they balance their output between sequels to established franchises and original stories. The next projects coming from DreamWorks Animation will beThe Wild RobotandDog Man, and time will tell if the company will decide to develop any more sequels to their franchises in the near future. For now, audiences will have to settle forTrolls,Trolls World Tourand nowTrolls Band Togetherbeing available for streaming on Peacock.
