Titus Welliverhas put Harry Bosch’s badge in storage — for now — and picked up a crucifix, a stake, and a whole lot of psychological baggage. InAbraham’s Boys: A Dracula Story, the Emmy-nominated actor trades police procedurals for gothic paranoia, stepping into the role of Abraham Van Helsing. The film is now available to watch at home via rental. This isn’t the heroic vampire hunter fromBram Stoker’s DraculaorDracula 2000—Joe Hill’sreimaginingturns Van Helsing into a deeply traumatized father whose obsession with “safety” might be as dangerous as the monsters he hunts.

Hill’s 2009 short story flips the script on the iconic character, askingwhat kind of man spends his nights desecrating coffinsand driving stakes into the undead. “We know that Van Helsing is a good guy because we’ve been taught that vampires are evil,” Hill explained in arecent interview with Collider. “But still, his Friday night looks a lot likeTed Bundy’sFriday night.”

DirectorNatasha Kermani(V/H/S/85) leans into that unsettling idea in her feature-length adaptation. Set in 1915, the film follows Max (Brady Hepner) and Rudy (Judah Mackey), two brothers growing up under their father’s strict and erratic rules. When Abraham’s past comes knocking, the boys are forced to reckon with the violent legacythey were never meant to inherit.Jocelin Donahueplays their quietly fearful mother, whileAurora Perrineauappears in a role tied to thedarker corners of Dracula’s mythos.

The trailer teases an eerie blend ofgothic horrorand domestic unease — the creak of a rural home, whispered warnings, and shadowy hints at the supernatural. It’s a far cry from the clean heroics of pastVan Helsing portrayals.
