AlthoughThe Accountant 2still falls well behind the original by all metrics at the box office, the film recently found new life during its third weekend in theaters. The action sequel, led byBen AffleckandJon Bernthal,scored another $6 million at the domestic box office this weekend, only a 36% drop after previously falling 61% after its opening weekend. At the time of writing,The Accountant 2has grossed $50.8 million at the domestic box office and$25.1 million internationallyfor aworldwide total of $76 million. While not record-shattering numbers, this $76 million total is enough to passDeath Race, the 2008 sci-fi thriller starringJason Statham.Death Racefinished its box-office run with$36 million coming from domestic and international markets, leading to the film amassing$72 million globally.

WhileThe Accountant 2’s box office numberswon’t be remembered as one of the best of the year, it’s earned strong reviews from both critics and audiences. The action sequel currently sits at a 77% from critics on the aggregate siteRotten Tomatoes, and the audience-driven Popcornmeter has come to rest at a “verified hot” 92%. In addition to Affleck and Bernthal, the film also returnsCynthia Addai-Robinsonas Marybeth Medina, withJ.K. Simmonsbriefly reprising his role as Ray King. After starring in the firstAccountantmovie,Anna Kendrickdid not return for the sequel. WhileThe Accountantpits Affleck’s Christian Wolff and Bernthal’s Braxton against each other, its sequel puts the two on the same side as they work with Marybeth Medina to fight against a dangerous new threat, Anaïs (Daniella Pineda).

How Much Longer Will ‘The Accountant 2’ Be in Theaters?

The Accountant 2only lost 200 theaters this past weekend, which marked its third weekend in theaters. While its overall theater count will surely start to decline in the coming days and weeks, it willlikely still be playing in theaters for at least a few more weeksas it also begins its run on VOD.The Accountant 2has yet to even be added toPrime Videowith a “coming soon” label, but it will likely hit digital platforms before the end of May, if not in early June. Once it does begin streaming,look forThe Accountant 2to hit Prime Video, as it is anAmazon-MGMproduction.
