Wheel of FortunehostRyan Seacresthas found himself at opposing ends with fans once again. The latest episode saw a contestant break a rule during a crossword puzzle round, whichcost him the round. However, fans are not pointing their fingers at the contestant who made the foul. They are blaming theWheel of Fortunehost insteadfornot explaining the rules beforehand.

On Monday, March 31, fans sawTodd Meyerfrom Las Vegas, Nevada, play againstSheree Corderfrom Tampa, Florida, andLatricia Randolphfrom Franklin, Tennessee. Corder, the eventual winner, started the game well, as she solved the first tossup, which was “Expect the unexpected” and the second, which was “Model airplane kit.” Because of her early success in the game, she added $3,000 to her bank in the beginning andearned a total of $6,000after solving another puzzle.

Sadly for Meyer, his blunder cost him the game when he and his competitors faced a rare crossword,a round that Corder won. The category was “Party," where the contestants had to guess four words in the puzzle. Randolph guessed many letters until “G” was not in the puzzle. Meyer, despite guessing all the letters and even solving the puzzle, was unsuccessful, asSeacrest told him it was incorrect.

The ‘Wheel of Fortune’ Fans Criticize Ryan Seacrest Once Again

Despite solving the puzzle, where Meyer went wrong is that he said, “Party Time,” “Party Animal,” “Party Bus,” and “Party Decorations.” According to the rules ofWheel of Fortune,he was supposed to say exactly what was on the board.Corder took the win for the round as she said “Time, Animal, Decorations, and Bus.” If it were not for the rule break, Meyer could have won, which is why the fans took issue with Seacrest not explaining the rules beforehand.

Seacrest often faced criticism from fans as they felt like he was not living up to the standards that previous hostPat Sajak, whoretired from the show, set. Fans took toRedditto air their grievances; as one said, “Pat ALWAYS made sure to lis the rules for these more meta puzzles!” Another wrote, “That guy got screwed.”Reddit

“Ryan Not Reminding the Contestants About Crossword Solves,” one wrote. “Makes me mad every time! Sometimes he reminds contestants how to solve these puzzles properly, and sometimes he doesn’t. Doesn’t seem fair. Oh, andthis contestant today looked PISSED!” Another wrote, “Felt bad for the guy. Like…come on. He knew this.He was filling in the blank.”

Despite his crossword blunder, Meyer redeemed himself as he won $10,000 by solving all three Triple Toss-Ups. However,he did not claim victory at the end ofWheel of Fortune. Corder solved the final puzzle, which earned her a spot in the Bonus Round with a total of $16,6000. Randolph left the game with $12,190.Meyer trailed behind in last place with a total of $10,000.Wheel of Fortuneairs weeknights on ABC.
