After the most successful first season of any Paramount+ original series to date, fans are still stunned thatLandmanhas not been renewed for Season 2. The show producedrecord viewership for the streameron its way to dominating charts, claiming the #1 spot ahead of other Sheridan originals for the better part of two months. In lieu of a Season 2 announcement, Paramount has come forward with the news thatLandmanwill be released on DVD and Blu-ray on May 13. The physical media boxes will come with even more bonus features, including new, never-before-seen footage from the show, as well as three disks with Episodes 1-4 coming on the first disk, Episodes 5-8 on the second disk, with the penultimate and season finale on the third disk.
Landmanearned solid scores of 78% from critics and 65% from audiences onRotten Tomatoes, but the viewership numbers alone warrant a second season. People couldn’t get enough ofBilly Bob Thorntonas Tommy Norris bossing around oil executives and cartel members, while also trying to mend his relationship with his wife and guide his son on the path to success. In addition to Thornton,Landmanalso starsAli LarterandJon Hamm, withDemi Mooreplaying a small role that is likely to be expanded in Season 2. The show was one of many Sheridan originals to air a new season in 2024, along withMayor of Kingstown(Jeremy Renner),Tulsa King(Sylvester Stallone),Yellowstone(Kevin Costner), andLioness(Zoe Saldaňa).Christian Wallaceco-createdLandmanwith Sheridan, withStephen Kayhelming six episodes whileMichael Friedmanand Sheridan each helmed two.

We Know When ‘Landman’ Season 2 Will Begin Filming if It’s Renewed
While news about a potentialLandmanSeason 2 has been quiet from both Paramount+ andTaylor Sheridan, Billy Bob Thornton admits he’s heard rumblings about a return to the West Texas oil fields. At the start of 2025, Thornton says he heardfilming on Season 2 was going to begin in February or March, which comes as a bit of a shock considering there has been no announcement of Season 2. However, it’s possible Paramount could be playing this closer to the vest than fans realize, andLandmanwas renewed long before we’ll ever know about it.
