‘Batman’: Ben Affleck Teases New DCEU Villain

I think we can all agree that the excitement and potential of theBatmanstandalone film directed byBen Affleckis very, very high, but Affleck found a way to get fans even more shaken up this week byrevealing a new villain for the DCEU. Early in the week, the actor/director took to his Twitter account to share a mysterious piece of footage featuring popular DC villain Deathstroke, while offering no context or even a comment on what the clip was about. Early on this lead to the belief that Deathstroke would make some sort of appearance inJustice League, however later reports placed the character as the main villain in Affleck’s soloBatmanmovie. The release of this clip was a genius play by Affleck to get fans talking, and also opens up the floor for massive amounts of speculation, for example, who the character will be played by. Having Deathstroke in the standaloneBatmanfilm instead ofJustice Leaguemakes more sense and sounds like the smarter move, but until we get any sort of confirmation it’s all speculation at this point. For all we know this was just some random test footage and Batffleck was just messing with us, but it is a badass clip though.

‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’: Tom Holland Shares New Set Photo

Another week, another piece of news to come out of the currently filmingSpider-Man: Homecoming, this week in the form of anew set photo. Spidey himselfTom Hollandwent on his Instagram account to share a new image from the set ofSpider-Man: Homecoming, giving thanks to the team that made him look like a “badass”. In the new black and white set photo we see a dark alley and the shadowy silhouette of the wall-crawler standing above. It’s a very nice-looking image, but J. Jonah Jameson would still call it crap.

Speaking of Holland looking like a badass, there was a bit of an Instagram stunt battle between Holland andChris Hemsworth, with both actorssharing stunt videos. Hemsworth’s clip was intended to be comedic, but Holland capitalized on the opportunity to show him how it’s done and challenge him to do better.

But wait, there’s more Spidey news. We know thatSpider-Man: Homecomingwill include an appearance fromRobert Downey Jr.as Tony Stark/Iron Man, but this week it was revealed we will also see thereturn of Happy Hoganto the MCU played byJon Favreau, a character we haven’t seen in a while.

‘Captain Marvel’: New Possible Director Added

Brie Larsonis set to play Carol Danvers in Marvel’s first standalone superheroine film, but the search continues to see which director will be chosen to helmCaptain Marvel, and this week anew name surfaced as a possible candidate. According to reports, directorRebecca Thomas(Electrick Children) has been added to the list of contenders to direct Larson inCaptain Marvel, joining the previously revealed names ofNiki Caro,Lorene Scafaria, andLesli Linka Glatter. Time will tell who gets the spot, but for a film that opens in 2019, they have plenty of time to make the choice.

‘The Flash’: New Season 3 Images Revealed

We are patiently awaiting the return of Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) to television withThe FlashSeason 3 but most importantly to see the repercussions of his choice in the Season 2 finale, and we got a little taste of that withnew imagesfrom the upcoming season premiere. Highlighting the set of images are photos where we can see a pleased Barry reunited with his very much alive parents (John Wesley ShippandMichelle Harrison), and of course the images of what looks to be the team-up between Flash and Kid Flash/Wally West (Keiynan Lonsdale). We know Flashpoint won’t be the storyline of the entire season, but I’m really curious to see how it plays out for the duration of it.

‘Arrow’: Season 5 Images Feature New Villain

The CW’sArrowdidn’t get left behind by the promotional train for its upcoming season, revealing aset of new imagesahead of its Season 5 premiere, teasing the show’s newest villain and flashbacks setting. In the images we get a clear look at the new archer Green Arrow/Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) will be crossing paths (and arrows) with, Prometheus. We also got looks at the new setting for the flashbacks this season will bring, this time taking place in Russia. Team Arrow’s break-up will see Oliver training a new team of young vigilantes this upcoming season, and that training will come in handy in facing the new threats Season 5 brings.

‘Doctor Strange’: New Sneak Peek Offers Glimpses of Ancient One, Mordo, and Kaecilius

With it being the next offering in line from Marvel, the studio is starting to enter promotion mode forDoctor Strange, and this week they decided to release asneak peekfrom the film that will be included in theCaptain America: Civil WarBlu-ray. The sneak preview goes into the characters of The Ancient One (Tilda Swinton), Mordo (Chiwetel Ejiofor), and Kaecilius (Mads Mikkelsen) offering some insight about them and their place in this story. The sneak peek also gives us a little footage and some concept art, where we see more of those trippy visuals. What is making me anticipateDoctor Strangeis that it feels like it will introduce something new to the superhero genre, from what I’ve seen so far from the film it looks very different from anything we’ve seen before in Marvel movies or any other superhero movie.
