Today at Star Wars Celebration, a new trailer and release date were revealed for the highly anticipated upcoming video gameStar Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. The new action adventure game hails from Respawn Entertainment and will be a single-player, story-based game (i.e. don’t expectFornite-like Battle Royale) and tells an originalStar Warsstory revolving around a young Padawan. The game takes place shortly after the events ofStar Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith, right when the Empire was rising to power.

Cameron Monaghan—who plays Joker on the Fox seriesGotham—plays the lead role of Cal Kstis, one of the last surviving members of the Jedi Order following the purge of Order 66, which identified all Jedi as traitors in the eyes of clone troopers and led to a massacre of epic proportions.

As we see in this trailer, Cal is trying to live life as a working class individual, but finds it hard to keep his Jedi powers under wraps. The notion of getting to live out the role of a young Padawan in a newStar Warsgame is certainly intriguing, and one hopesFallen Orderis able to live up to the hype.

There have been a number of good, bad, and uglyStar Warsgames over the years, and as someone who foundStar Wars: Battlefrontsupremely underwhelming, I’m much more looking forward to the single-player, story-based gameplay ofFallen Order.
