It’s officially summer, which means it’s also convention time. July not only brings Comic-Con back to San Diego, but the month marks Star Wars Celebration Europe in London. Ahead of the festivities, kicking off July 15 and ending July 17, Lucasfilmreleased a partial scheduleof what fans can expect.
Among the bigger events is a panel forRogue One: A Star Wars Story. DirectorGareth Edwardswill join Lucasfilm presidentKathleen Kennedy, in addition to some unnamed “special guests.” The film starsFelicity Jones,Diego Luna,Alan Tudyk,Ben Mendelsohn,Forest Whitaker,Mads Mikkelsen, and more. During the D23 Expo at Anaheim last year, a panel forThe Force Awakensfeatured a crop of the actors, includingJohn Boyega,Daisy Ridley, andOscar Isaac. So it’s likely that something similar will be done for this year’s Celebration.
The other big one, for now at least, is for season 3 ofStar Wars Rebels. Executive producerDave Filoniand equally mysterious special guests will reveal sneak peeks at what’s ahead, including screenings of the first two episodes.
Also featured will be appearances fromMark Hamill,Warwick Davis,Anthony Daniels, Darth Maul stuntmanRay Park, as well as panels going inside the making ofThe Force Awakens. See the partial schedule for Celebration Europe below.
Friday, July 15:
An Hour With Mark Hamill, 11:30 – 12:30
Start your Celebration weekend off in the best possible way, by spending time with the Jedi Master himself. Star Wars Celebration Europe Cosplay Championship, 18:00 – 19:30
Enjoy the best cosplay in the galaxy live on the Celebration Stage. The Celebration Europe Cosplay Championships, hosted by Warwick Davis and Mark Daniel, will entertain, and possibly inspire you to get started with your ownStar Warscosplay. The Championships will feature celebrity judges who know quite a bit about the art ofStar Warscostumes: Dave Filoni (executive producer,Star Wars Rebels) and Steve Sansweet (Rancho Obi-Wan).

The Creatures, Droids & Aliens ofStar Wars: The Force Awakens, 12:00 – 13:00
Take a deep dive into the Pinewood Studios-basedStar Warscreature shop, where creative supervisor Neal Scanlan and team designed and built every alien, beast, and droid fromStar Wars: The Force Awakens! Step-by-step, the process of crafting amazing creatures and droids like Maz Kanata, BB-8, the luggabeast, Unkar Plutt and Supreme Leader Snoke will be explored; from design and sculpting, to fabrication and animatronics, to painting and puppeteering. The panel will culminate in a live demo of one of the creature shop’s incredibleStar Warscharacters!
