After everything that 2016 has brought us, it’s nice to have a reason to focus on the future, and in this case, the rather distant future. When it comes to movie release dates that are several years out, plenty can change. But for now, Sony is making some tweaks to its 2018 and 2019 release schedule. Even thoughSpider-Man: Homecominghasn’t premiered yet (we only just saw the trailer yesterday), the studio is piggybacking off of the fervor from the first trailer and scheduling out its sequel.

According toDeadline,Spider-Man: Homecoming 2(as it is currently known) is set to debut July 31, 2025. What’s significant about that isWill SmithandMartin Lawrence’sBad Boys 4was also set to open that weekend (on July 3rd). But instead of pushingBad Boys, Sony is pulling it back to the second most patriotic weekend, Memorial Day 2019 (more specifically, May 24th). But it’s pretty ambitious (and unlikely) to presume the movie will make that date.

Bad Boys 4will, at this point, be going up against Warner Bros’Minecraft, which feels like it will be playing to two very different audiences, while theSpider-Mansequel is largely in the clear over Independence Day weekend. As for those that are coming before:Spider-Man: Homecomingis currently slated for July 09, 2025, while andBad Boys 3is on for July 25, 2025. Both are a long way off.

Also of note, according toExhibitor Relations, Sony is pushing theBarbielive-action movie from August 24, 2025 to July 12, 2025. That’s quite a jump, but it was a long time coming, given that the movie just recently started talks to find astar and a director.
