Sinnersfinally made its long-awaited streaming debut to start this week, and the film wasted no time dethroning an action legend.Sinnersarrived on VOD platforms such as Prime Video on Tuesday, and after only one day on the streamer, it successfully claimed the #1 spot.Sinnerstook this spot fromA Working Man, the latest action vehicle fromJason Statham, that wrapped up its theatrical run a few weeks ago after falling just short of $100 million at the box office.Sinnerswas produced on a reported budget of around $90 million, and the film has already staked out $351 million at the global box office. If it can collect $9 million more before the end of its run, which will likely be no problem, it will leave theaters after grossing more than four times its budget.

Sinnersis the latest creation from acclaimed directorRyan Coogler, and it marks his fifth directorial feature. It also continues an interesting trend the director has developed of working withMichael B. Jordanon every project. EvenBlack Panther: Wakanda Forever, which seemed like it would be the first movie to not feature Jordan, brought back his Killmonger for an astral plane scene to speak to Shuri (Letitia Wright). In addition to Michael B. Jordan,Sinnersalso starsHailee Steinfeldas Mary andJack O’Connellas Remmick, both of whom end up as vampires by the end of the movie, dancing to the Rocky Road to Dublin. Coogler also recruited rookie actorMiles Caton,Delroy Lindo,Omar Benson Miller,Wunmi Mosaku, andBuddy Guyfor roles in his hit vampire thriller.

Will There Be a ‘Sinners 2’?

DespiteSinnersperforming exceptionally well at the box office,Ryan Coogler has confirmed that he will not be making a sequel to the film. There were also rumors floating around about a potential prequel — possibly one focused on Smoke and Stack in Chicago or Remmick’s vampire origins — but Coogler also shut this down. He mentioned that he wantedSinnersto feel like a complete meal, not something tied to anything else. After working with theMCUfor the last 10 years onBlack PantherandWakanda Forever, it’s hard to fault him for wanting to escape franchise filmmaking.

Sinnersis still playing in most theaters everywhere, and the film is also available to rent or purchase on digital platforms likePrime Video. Stay tuned to Collider for more streaming updates.
