Alan Ritchsonmay be off saving the day again soon—but fans will have to wait longer than usual to see it. Following the action-packed conclusion ofReacherSeason 3, Prime Video has confirmed a fourth season is on the way. However, according to a new report from TVLine, season 4 won’t beginfilming until production wraps on the Frances Neagley spinoff series, which starsMaria Stenas Neagley. The two shows share much of the same crew, meaningReacherwill have to wait its turn.
Season 3, which debuted earlier this year, saw Ritchson’s Reacher go back to his solo roots, delivering the kind of no-nonsense justice that made season 1 such a breakout hit in 2022. After a more mixed reception to season 2, the most recent chapter was praised as a return to form. WithReachernow Prime Video’s biggest original series, fans expected a yearly rollout to continue uninterrupted. But that plan might be shifting. Although series creatorLee Childhas previously said that filming on season 4 was targeted for this summer, that start date now appears tentative depending on how quickly the Neagley spinoff wraps production. Prime Video has previously handled release gaps by alternating its franchise series, such asThe BoysandGen V, on opposite years. A similar pattern may emerge here.

What Does This Mean For ‘Reacher’ Season 4?
While the delay might be frustrating for viewers, it’s a strong vote of confidence in the upcoming Neagley series. The spinoff is being overseen byReacherexecutive producersNick SantoraandNicholas Wootton, and boasts a cast that includesGreyston Holt,Adeline Rudolph,Jasper Jones,Matthew Del Negro, andDamon Herriman. By maintaining continuity across the creative team, Prime Video is betting on quality and cohesion—and hopefully, another franchise win.
Still, there’s always a risk inleaving audiences waiting too long. Fans of the series have gotten pretty used to fairly consistent releases on Prime Video, with season 1 launching in 2022, season 2 closing out 2023, and season 3 landing in early 2025 after a brief delay, so just over a year per season. But if that rhythm is disrupted, it may test viewers’ patience, which is something nobody wants.

There’s still no official word on whichLee Child novelseason 4 will adapt, though speculation ranges fromThe Hard WaytoDie TryingtoWithout Fail. In the meantime,Reacherseason 1–3 are streaming now on Prime Video. Stay tuned for updates onNeagleyand production on season 4.
