While Netflix has yet to release a full trailer for the upcoming second season ofRaising Dion, they’ve just dropped a series of stills giving us a first look at the return of theMichael B. Jordan-backed superhero show.
Season 1 focused on a family trying to get to grips with the emerging super abilities of their son Dion (Ja’Siah Young) and ended on something of a twist. With the Twisted Man (Dion’s godfather, Pat, played byJason Ritter) thought dead, we meet up with Brayden (Griffin Robert Faulkner) who, apparently, has been possessed by the Twisted Man, as implied by a flourish of the baddie’s lightning in the distance.
Season 2 is set to pick up a couple of years later, with Dion starting to get to grips with his powers as revealed in these new images. We also get a first look at a pretty ominous-looking Brayden with a bowl of Choco Charlies - unequivocally the evilest of all the sugary cereals - along with some great shots of Dion and his mom, Nicole (Alisha Wainwright) getting a handle on the kid’s powers.

Back in 2019, we spoke to Wainwright all about the show, and she let us in on some of her hopes for Nicole in the new season - including, not least, love:
“That’s a great question. I feel like, for Nicole, you see her put a firm no on romance, from Episode 1. There’s a connection there with her husband, at the end of the season, so for me, I would love to explore what love looks like after loss. Is it possible? What does that relationship look like? I think that’s really interesting. Obviously, as little kids grow up to be young adults, I’m sure there are a lot of evolutions of powers that could be happening with Dion, so I would be curious to see what he can do next.”

Raising Dionfollows the story of Nicole (Alisha Wainwright) and her son Dion (Ja’Siah Young) after Dion starts to manifest several mysterious, superhero-like abilities. Two years after defeating the Crooked Man (Jason Ritter), Season Two follows Dion as he continues honing his powers with the support of his mom and Tevin (Rome Flynn), his Biona trainer who catches Nicole’s eye. After befriending new student Brayden (Griffin Robert Faulkner) - a fellow powered kid - a series of alarming events unfold, and Dion learns that danger is still looming. Navigating twists, turns, and surprise visitors, Dion and Nicole must prevail again – not just to save themselves, but the entire city of Atlanta.
