The 78th annual Venice Film Festival recently concluded with one of the most exciting awards ceremonies in the festival’s history. Whether you wanted to see anentertainment industry satireor amedieval drama, the chances that Venice screened the film for you were high. In both the main competition and the Horizons Sidebar sections, jury presidentBong Joon-hoselected the best of an already stacked lineup of films. Perhaps most surprising is how female directors were awarded the highest honors, with the prestigious Golden Lion going to French-Lebanese directorAudrey Diwan’sHappening....

According to Deadline,Vince Vaughnand Netflix are getting together for an action-adventure comedy, based on a pitch that the streaming service has acquired. Though the project doesn’t yet have a title, and details of its plot are unknown at this time, there is a little bit of info to glean. The movie will feature three leads—Vaughn’s role included—and is said to be in the spirit ofCity SlickersandOld School. So, we can expect a trio of forty-(or fifty) somethings getting themselves in over their heads in some harebrained attempt to recapture their youth....

On August 06, 2025,Sony Pictures TV sent CBS a formal letterannouncing their intention to take over the distribution of two of America’s favorite game shows,Wheel of FortuneandJeopardy. The two TV juggernauts had a previously established long-term partnership over the distribution of the two shows. Now, according to the letter sent to CBS,Sony intends to take over the responsibility of distributing new episodes to the hundreds of TV stations around the country, as early as the week of August 23, 2025....

Noah Baumbach’s film adaptation ofDon DeLillo’s 1985 novelWhite Noiseis an absurdist comedy that explores some of the darker philosophical crises of modern life. The film borrows many of the most gripping lines of dialog from the book while leaving out some of the much more winding grandiloquence that DeLillo weaved throughout its many pages. As such, it’s not hard to interpret the running themes of the film from the characters' obsession with death to social criticism of contemporary society....
