If Oprah thinks you’re doing fine, it’s best to heed her advice and she explained why. “Do not do it,” Oprah pleaded with Kellyon her podcast show. “Don’t even consider it, because I feel that the reach that you have, the audience that you’ve built, the family that you’ve created — both inside the studio and in the rest of the world — is really more vital and important now than ever before.”
Kelly has been in a groove with her latest co-host and husband,Mark Consuelos, and she believes that groove continues to work. Oprah also praisedLive With Kelly and Markfor being “easy” and “light,” but also “serious enough when it needs to be.” Because their shows, though both interview-based, are drastically different. Oprah noted thatLiveis “not a grind,” whereasThe Oprah Winfrey Show’stopics were much darker than what Ripa provides on her morning talk show. Oprah revealed, “As much as I loved being a part of the show every day, and as much as I loved the audience,I’m telling you, the nature of what we were doing every day became just so hard.”
Part of where Oprah’s hardship came when she pushed for awards, which she admitted was not even worth it. “It’s not gonna be measured by an award at the end of the year.It’s measured in every viewer response. I’ve said many times, your legacy is every life you touch. It’s measured in all the lives that are being affected by what you’re doing and saying,” Oprah said. For her, having her show, which ran from 1986 until 2011, was about reaching “into people’s lives and be there for them in ways that mattered.”
