What Is ‘Sonic the Hedgehog 2’ About?
The sequel follows Sonic in the aftermath of the first movie, eager to prove that he has what it takes to be a true hero. He is put to the task when Dr. Robotnik (Jim Carrey) returns with a new partner, Knuckles, in search ofa mystical emeraldthat has the power to destroy civilizations. SoSonic teams up with Tails and embarks on a globe-trotting journeyto find the emerald before it falls into the wrong hands.
The movie, directed byJeff Fowler,is extremely fun, with good CGI and compelling characters. What makes it special is the fact that it was the first movie to get the audience back into the theaters after the pandemic slump, garnering $405.4 million worldwide.It also breathed new life into the action genreovershadowed by superhero movies, and overcame the video game movie curse at the time. The movie has a 69%Rotten Tomatoesrating while the audience score sits as high as 96%.
