Suicide Squadjust secured the record of having the biggest August opening weekend in the history of the box office. And now, as we’re starting to hear more and more about trouble behind the scenes, a user onReddit has revealed many scenes that were cut from the film, adding more fuel to the fire that WB wanted a lighter tone over the dark cut originally planned. According to Dark Horizons via the Reddit user, the scenes include a detailed opening of June Moone’s possession by Enchantress, Deadshot in the prison cell, watching the rain fall and thinking about his daughter; El Diablo being escorted to a training center and being placed in a tube that fills with water; an early interview of Captain Boomerang’s racism and sexism that were reportedly directed at Katana; a backstory for Killer Croc; an ace Chemicals scene where Harley jumps into the chemicals, along with several scenes with the Joker and Harley that showed their relationship as more abusive rather than loving. Ayer has said that the theatrical cut is also his director’s cut, but that doesn’t mean another version of the film is out of the question. When the initial announcement thatStar Warsspin-offRogue Onewould be set betweenEpisodes IIIandIV, fans of the sci-fi saga began wondering which classic characters would appear in the film. While LucasFilm presidentKathleen Kennedyruled out appearances by a young Han Solo andHayden Christensenas Darth Vader, a few other familiar faces have been confirmed to appear from the prequels, most notably that of actorGenevieve O’Reillywho reprises her role as Mon Mothma from the prequels. Now, another actor has confirmed they will be back once more. Speaking on The Talk,Jimmy Smitsconfirmed he will be back as Bail Organa, Princess Leia’s adopted father. Whether his role is a minor cameo or something more remains to be seen whenRogue One A Star Wars Storyhits theatres this December 16th.

It’s been said many times by industry insiders that the MPAA doesn’t really care about violence in movies as long as it’s bloodless. You can usually pack as much carnage as you want into your movie and get away with a PG-13. Comedian and filmmakerMike Birbigliahas recently given his two centson the matter, putting the PG-13 rating ofSuicide Squadin his sights. Birbiglia’s new filmDon’t Think Twicewas recently given an R rating by the MPAA because his actors in the movie occasionally swear and smoke pot. The official reason given for the rating include “language and some drug use.” Some are saying that’s a low blow for a movie that is perfectly acceptable for the 14 and over set, all of whom will be able to buy tickets to seeSuicide Squad, which earned its PG-13 despite containing a large amount of violence and gunplay. Birbiglia made his thoughts known on Twitter, saying “Suicide Squadhas machine gun killings and bombings and got a PG-13 rating.Don’t Think Twicegets an R because adults smoke pot. Confusing?” DirectorJudd Apatowthen jumped into the discussion, responding to the tweet, saying that studios own the ratings board. The conversation shines a light on a bigger discussion many have regarding the MPAA ratings, which most considering it to be outdated and only benefiting the studio marketing divisions rather than moviegoers.

Orlando Orrego writes:

Hey guys, I love all of the new shows. My question may need to be explained to fans that may not know what I am about to ask. So I was wondering about the Flash movie and the bad reception DC Movies are getting.

Do you think Flashpoint can fix the DC movie universe? With the critics not likingBVSandSuicide Squad, it would be smart for WB to just reset the universe. I understand thatWonder WomanandJustice Leaguecoming out but Flash could fix the problems with what’s happening with the universe. And in 2018 we will have sole movies forAquaman,Batman, and finally aMan of Steel 2. What do you guys think? Thanks for taking my question.

P.S. I would love for John Schnepp to answer this on collider heroes or movietalk.
