Jennie Snyder Urmanis reuniting with another of herJane the Virginalumni in the law offices of Jacobson Moore. According toDeadline,Justina Machadois coming aboard in Season 2 of the creator’s smash-hit legal drama seriesMatlockat CBS. She’s set to have a big hand in the series going forward, playing Eva, the fourth ex-wife ofBeau Bridges’s managing partner, Senior, who may be planning some power plays of her own when she shows up in New York. For Matty (Kathy Bates), she may prove to be a complicating presence in her plans when the series returns to television on a special night on October 12.
Eva is described as a “formidable, smart, and ambitious attorney” in her own right, and she serves as the head of Jacobson Moore’s Miami office. She’s also the woman who made Senior swear off marriage altogether. In Season 2, an emergency meeting brings her to New York and her old husband, though she’ll leverage that window of opportunity for her own gain. Whatever plans she has up her sleeve will add a new wrinkle to what Matty and Olympia (Skye P. Marshall) are facing after they found the culprit in the Wellbrexa case. Season 1 endedwith Julian (Jason Ritter) revealed as the man behind the missing documents, teeing up a showdown with Senioras the pair try to uncover the truth within their workplace. Whether Eva could help or hinder Matty’s investigation remains to be seen.

Machado is just the secondJane the Virginveteran to joinMatlockfollowingYael Grobglas, who now playsthe human lie detector, Shae Banfield. She enters Urman’s new series after it burst onto the scene asone of CBS’s highest-ratedand most critically acclaimed shows of last season, with a very strong Certified Fresh score of 90% onRotten Tomatoes. The finale left a lot of room to grow, too, not only leaving Matty and Olympia’s futures in the balance, but hinting at some drama at home witha man claiming to be Alfie’s father. With more characters adding complexity to the law firm and the world around it, it’s no wonder that executive producerKat Coirobelieves thatthe series could “go on for years"and continue packing in more fun guest stars along the way.
