It’s been a month sinceA Minecraft Movieentered theaters, and it immediately became a huge box office success. This shows there is still love for this popular 2011 sandbox video game, regardless of age and generation. To celebrate,LEGOhas announced a new set featuring the game’s most iconic mobs.
The Creeperis an upcoming LEGO set scheduled to come out in June 2025. With a listed price of $39.99, this large-scale 21 cm figure will contain 665 pieces. Once built, various parts, like the head and legs, are moveable. To showcase this item’s scale, a minifigure of the creeper’s first iteration (aka:the messed-up pig model) and a TNT block are also included.
While this set is part of theMinecraftcollection for the video game, LEGO has announced sets based on the film. One of them is theWoodland Mansion Fighting Ring, which pays tribute to the scene that sparkedthe Chicken Jockey meme. As of writing, this set is scheduled to ship in two months.
What Is A Creeper? And Was It Featured In ‘A Minecraft Movie’?
The Creeper is a hostile mob inMinecraftthat’s known for its explosive ability. This creature spawns in the Overworld, regardless of its day or night, and when struck by lightning, it becomes a charged creeper, amplifying its explosion ability. The creation of the creeper was a happy accident. According to Minecraft’s lead designer,Jens Bergensten, this hostile mob was meant to be a pig, but the game’s creator, Notch, “mixed the height and the width values,” thus creating the iconic green creature that fans recognize. This mob was so popularthat it was transformed into a popcorn bucket.
InA Minecraft Movie,the Creeper wasn’t the main foe, but its presence was featured in a handful of scenes. Garrett “The Garbage Man” Garrison (Jason Momoa) faced the creature head-on during his first night on the Overworld, which led to it exploding and him getting knocked back. Then later, Steve (Jack Black) reveals that he has a Creeper farm that he cultivated in the mines, which had Garrett and Henry (Sebastian Hansen) shocked and confused as to why one would want to breed these dangerous creatures.
Following the movie’s success, directorJared Hesssaidhe would like to make a sequel toA Minecraft Movie. And withWarner Bros saying it’s keen to make that project happen, it’s safe to say that the creeper will return, one way or another.
