Kendall Jennertook her role as executive producer pretty seriously this season onThe Kardashians. She was more comfortable talking about this aspect of her life, and even brought up reviewing the early episodes in an on-camera conversation with her sisterKylie Jenner. Kendall and Kylie discussed their sisterKhloé Kardashian’ssurprise meeting with her ex-husbandLamar Odom, and Kendall’s desire to speak further with their older sibling about her reaction to the conversation. There is significance in Kendall stepping more fully into her role as a producer on the series, since the season has beensaturated with inauthentic scenesthat have clearly been staged simply to be filmed, where the famous family members hide their true emotions and reactions under the facade of glamorous perfection they seek to uphold.
Kendall has been focused on wellness in recent years, and it is clear from her scenes this season that this work has paid off when it comes to mastering the professional anxieties she experiences that she has previously spoken openly about. With this focus on healing and authenticity in her own personal life, the model taking the reins as a producer couldhelp correct the course of the family reality series.Kendall’s conversation with Khloé regarding her reaction to Lamar, and the way she handles herself based on outside perceptions of the way she behaves, is a step towards a more authentic reality series as well.

Kendall Stepped In To Produce a Conversation With Her Sister
In one of the scenes that Kendall and Kyliefilmed as a duo this season, the sisters prepped cinnamon rolls and chatted about their grandmother’s upcoming 90th birthday party. Kylie joked that when Kendall turned 90, she would be around 75, pretending there was a significantly larger age gap between the siblings than exists in reality. Kylie’s brattiness often emerges around her siblings, joking that she is busier, or better loved bytheir momagerKris Jenner, or that she is more culturally relevant than one family member or another, depending on whose skin she is trying to get under. But Kylie showed the more vulnerable and camera-shy aspect of her personalitywhen the conversation took a more serious turn.
Kendall mentioned to Kylie that she had viewed the footage from the early episodes of the season, including the scenes of Khloé reuniting with Lamar. She was critical of the level of anger Khloé had barely restrained in the scenes with Lamar, and expressed the need to better understand what was going on with her sister in those moments. By initiating this conversation with Kylie on camera, instead of simply speaking with Khloé on her own without the cameras present, Kendall was seeking to establish a surprising level of accountability from her sister on the reality series, considering the family typically toes the lines of each other’s boundaries and diverts conversations when they touch on anything too personal. But Kendall’s concern for her sister coincided with her role as producer this season, and she took her time to make sure that she could confront Khloé in a setting where she would have Kylie for support and didn’t have too many other pressing obligations on her calendar.

Kendall’s Honest Conversations Helped Khloé & The Series
Although Kendall shared several solo scenes with Khloé this season, and presumably had conversations with her off-camera as well, she waited until later in the season to speak with her older sister about her concerns. This strategy was to enable Khloé tofinish her world tourby traveling to India and Italy withKim Kardashianamid her bid to turn a new leaf in her 40s by becoming more adventurous.Kendall was able to wrangle her busy sibling for a professional chat in the season finale, just before Khloé would be jetting to Londonto launch her signature fragrance in Harrods.
Kylie eased everyone into the conversation in typical Leo fashion, by snuggling up with Khloé and chatting about a recent red-carpet appearance, before Kendall dropped the hammer about the real reason she had asked for the on-camera conversation. Khloé seemed taken aback initially to be confronted about her actions in her conversation with Lamar, although to her credit she was willing to clarify to her significantly younger siblings the realities that she faced in the relationship that she had kept hidden from them at the time, which were the source of so much of the repressed anger that raised her sisters' concerns when viewing the scenes with her ex-spouse. Kendall admitted that even in the brief conversation she had learned a lot more that informed her understanding of Khloé’s behavior. But there is one way that Kendall was totally right to have concerns about Khloé’s behavior.

During The Kardashians Season 6, a producer pitches a brand-new show idea.
Khloé Changes Her Behavior For the Camera
Kendall observed thather sister seems to change her behavior towards her exes when there are other people around or the camera is on them. She noted that it seemed to stem from the fear of being judged, either within the family or by viewers, for her choice to associate with men who have caused her harm and done “bad things” in the past. Kendall’s point seemed to be that Khloé needed to make peace with the fact that she had made the decision to have a close co-parenting relationship withTristan Thompsonafter years ofnegative press due to his cheating scandals, regardless of how this choice may be portrayed in the media or misconstrued by those around her.
With Lamar, Khloé seemed to be holding back anger that she didn’t want to express, especially lashing out when it seemed that the ex-NBA star might have gotten the wrong idea about what the meeting was meant to achieve.Khloé clarified to her younger siblings in their conversation that she was especially jumpy around her exes when other people were observing them because she didn’t want to give anyone the wrong idea about her intentions. It does seem that either Lamar or Tristan would jump at the chance to be back with Khloé if she were to drop even the subtlest of hints that she was open to the idea, so her being guarded makes sense.

However, Kendall’s concern about the repressed anger that Khloé exhibited in her scenes with Lamar was coming from a place of love, wanting her older sister to be able to move from a place of forgiveness instead of anger. Throughout the season,Kendall’s quest to understand Khloé’s interaction with Lamar caused her to step into her role of producer on the series in a significant way. This enabled some of the most authentic conversations to occur in a season that was rife with staged scenes propping up a facade of perfection.
