It wasn’t enough that theTremorsfranchise already has five films - four of which you probably haven’t seen - but nowJason Blumis bringing the Graboid-filled creature feature to the small screen, andKevin Baconis set to star. Now that Fox’s drama/thriller seriesThe Followinghas been cancelled, Bacon is clear to return as Valentine McKee in aTremorsTV reboot. He’ll also be taking on the role of executive producer.

EWfirst reported that Bacon will be back in aTremorsTV series. Fans of the franchise that features subterranean monstrous creatures (with a very unusual maturation process) will remember the original 1990 movie that starred Bacon alongsideFred Wardas two handymen who help to defend their small town against the ravenous monsters. The casual fan might not know that this picture inspired four direct-to-video sequels, the most recent of which -Tremors 5: Bloodlines- debuted just this year. There was also a previous attempt at a TV series with the 2003 13-episode run ofTremors: The Serieson SciFi Channel. ActorMichael Grosshas starred in each and every iteration ofTremors, but this will be Bacon’s first time back battling the big worms.

Bacon will indeed by reprising his character of Valentine McKee and the series will be set in the fictional Nevada desert town of Perfection where all of this madness started.Andrew Millerwill be writing the series adaptation. I’d love to see Gross back as hardcore survivalist Burt Gummer as well, but there’s no word on additional casting just yet. Universal Cable Productions and Blumhouse Productions are currently shopping the project to multiple networks.

In a chat withIGNearlier this year, Bacon mentioned his interest in revisiting theTremorsfranchise:

“I’d love to do something else withTremorsand revisit the character 25 years later,” he said. “Part of what’s great about that movie is there are next to no digital effects. The monsters are done with puppetry, and it’s still off, funny and scary — it’s a cool accomplishment.”

Here’s a more recent comment courtesy of Bacon’s Twitter account:

I for one am up for a revisit to the world ofTremors. What say you?
