It holds a 51% score on Rotten Tomatoes, where the critics’ consensus reads, “Going back to basics with rip-roaring set pieces and fossilized clichés,Jurassic World Rebirthdoesn’t evolve this prehistoric franchise but does restore some of its most reliable DNA.” StarringScarlett Johansson,Mahershala Ali, andJonathan Bailey, the movie entered pre-production without a director attached, withGareth Edwardsbeing brought in to helm relatively late in the game.In his review, Collider’sAidan Kelleypraised Edwards’ direction, but questioned the existence of the film, which comes merely three years afterJurassic World Dominionbrought the previous trilogy to an underwhelming conclusion.

‘28 Years Later’ Wiped Out ‘M3GAN 2.0’

The third spot was claimed by Universal’sHow to Train Your Dragon, which made around $11 million in its fourth weekend of release. This takes the film’s runningdomestic total past the $220 million mark. This weekend,How to Train Your Dragonalso passed the $500 million milestone at the global box office, against a reported budget of $150 million. The fourth spot went to another kid-friendly film, Pixar’sElio, which grossed around $5.5 million in its third weekend and took itsdomestic total to around $55 million.Eliois poised to become Pixar’s biggest box office bomb(to have received a proper theatrical release), which is ironic, considering it comes only a year afterInside Out 2, the studio’s biggest-ever hit.

The top five list was rounded out by directorDanny Boyle’s28 Years Later, which grossed a little over $4.5 million in its third weekend, taking its runningdomestic total to $60 million. Elsewhere, Paramount’sMission: Impossible - The Final Reckoningpassed the $190 million markthis weekend, which suggests that a $200 million-plus finish is still possible. On the other hand,M3GAN 2.0is shaping up to be one of the biggest disasters of the summer, tanking by over 70% in its second weekend; the movie will conclude its run with roughly around a fifth of the first film’s lifetime haul.
