While the rest of the world was combating the Sunday scaries, DC Studios co-CEOJames Gunnwas busy releasing a new look at one of the year’s most anticipated projects. Gunn dropped a new sizzle reel forPeacemakerSeason 2 full of new behind-the-scenes footage of the hit DCU show, which will return to Max on August 21.PeacemakerSeason 2 will see WWE legendJohn Cenareprise his role as Christopher Smith for the third time, and also return series veterans such asDanielle Brooksas Leota Adebayo,Jennifer Hollandas Agent Emilia Harcourt,Steve Ageeas John Economos, andFreddie Stromaas Vigilante. The sizzle reel also includes footage of a mysterious new villain who will debut in the series, as well asFrank Grillo’s Rick Flag Sr.
Fans have become increasingly accustomed to longer waits between seasons of TV nowadays, butPeacemakerSeason 2 has a reasonably acceptable excuse as to why it’s taken three years for the show to return. The first season ofPeacemakerwas released during a complicated time in DC’s history, and it was later that same year that it was announced Gunn was taking over DC, along withPeter Safran. This spurred plenty of changes as the duo worked to wash out the old regime, mostly what few remaining pieces were left behind ofZack Snyder’s DCEU. It took a few years to settle on what was going to make the jump to the new universe and what wasn’t, but fans were grateful when Gunn confirmed thatPeacemakerwould get a second season that will be part of the newDCuniverse.
New images fromPeacemakerSeason 2 were released last week, and it confirmed thataSuicide Squadstar was going to make his DCU debutin the show.Michael Rooker, who has also worked with James Gunn on hisGuardians of the Galaxymovies as Yondu, will feature inPeacemakerSeason 2, but not as Savant (the character he plays in Gunn’s 2021 superhero film). Rooker will star as Red St. Wild inPeacemakerSeason 2, a hunter whose primary goal is to hunt Eagly (Dee Bradley Baker), Christopher Smith’s winged companion.
