It’s been almost five months sincethe firstSupermanteaserwas released, and as more time has passed, fans have grown increasingly anxious to see how the full trailer will show off the film in all its glory. Concerns can now safely be put to rest, as the official trailer forSupermanhas finally been released, showing off breathtaking visuals and a sense of hope and wonder that perfectly encapsulates what the Man of Steel is supposed to represent. WhenJames Gunntook over DC Studios, it didn’t take him long to confirm thatSupermanwould be the debut tentpole project, and after years of waiting, its release is finally right around the corner.David Corenswetwill take over the role of Clark Kent fromHenry Cavillin the film, withRachel Brosnahanportraying the new Lois Lane.

Supermanwould have no trouble carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders, but even the Man of Steel would likely struggle under the pressure thatSupermanis under to perform this summer. The future of theDCUis riding onSupermanbeing well-received by general audiences and performing well at the box office. Many fans had grown weary ofZack Snyder’s darker take on these classic DC heroes, but Gunn has seemingly infused his colorful brand of optimistic hope that made the audience fall in love with theGuardians of the Galaxy. There are other DCU projects likeSupergirl: Woman of TomorrowandLanternsthat are far enough into production that they’ll likely be released regardless ofSuperman’s performance, but the film being a success would certainly make things easier for Gunn and his co-CEOPeter Safrangoing forward.
