Editor’s note: This article contains mild spoilers for Doctor Who Season 2, Episode 4.

From a Disney prince to a WWII soldier,Jonah Hauer-Kinghas certainly donned a slew of different personalities during his almost decade in the industry. On the surface, his character, Milo, inJennifer Kaytin Robinson’sI Know What You Did Last Summer, is perhaps less complex thanThe Little Mermaid’s dreamy Prince Eric orWorld on Fire’s dutiful Harry Chase. After all, he’s just a high school kid. But that teenager’s life is about to be flipped upside-down after he and his friends inadvertently get themselves involved in an accident that claims the life of another, turning them into the targets of a hook-wielding maniac’s vengeful murder spree. Recently, Collider’sSamantha Coleysat down with Hauer-King to chat about his appearance in the latest episode ofDoctor Who, during which the former inquired about the actor’s experience on the set of the slasher flick.

Using hisDoctor Whocharacter, Conrad, as a point of comparison, Hauer-King described Milo as “a good-natured boy,” adding, “He’s more towards Conrad before the turn.” Explaining that his character’s fate shakes out because ofthe company he keeps, the actor continued:

“He’s sweet-natured and he’s got a good heart, and obviously, he gets embroiled in all kinds of events where he’s being asked to do things or make decisions that are really difficult. So, there’s a lot of tension for him to come.”

Blending the Past With the Present in ‘I Know What You Did Last Summer’

By this point, fans already know that two legacy characters will be making their return to the blood and gore-filled cinematic universe first brought to audiences inJim Gillespie’s 1997 feature of the same name. Building a foundation with the return ofJennifer Love HewittandFreddie Prinze Jr.as Julie James and Ray Bronson, respectively, allowed Robinson to fully swing open the door of possibilities for the long-anticipated third canon film in the franchise. While it may have seemed as though the reports surrounding the two performers' return to the fold were beingpushed until the last minute, Hauer-King reveals that’s because the movie really was down to the wire from set to screen, revealing: “We finished the film six weeks ago, and it comes out in July, so that’s a very, very quick turnaround. We’re really, really pumped.”

Praising Robinson’s vision and the screenplay that she co-penned withSam Lansky, he continued:

“I think the joy of this one is that, as you probably have heard, Freddie [Prinze Jr.] and Jen [Love Hewitt] are coming back. There’s some great continuity from the original. It’s about 30 years later, and a lot of the vibe is there, but I think also with the new young cast and with Jen Kaytin Robinson, the director, there’s definitely humor in there. There’s definitely a modern sensibility, andit feels fresh.”
