Bode’s (Max Thieriot) path to redemption just got a little bit longer. CBS announced today that the hit seriesFire Countryis officially renewed for Season 3. That means, of course, we’ll get to see CAL Fire saving more and more people from the most dangerous situations for at least one more round. The new episodes will be part of the 2024-2025 season.

The news doesn’t exactly come as a surprise: ever since its premiere,Fire Countryhas become one of the biggest hits for the network. Now, CBS reports that the series is doing even better. The network stated thatFire Countryis averaging over 9 million viewers every week, a 7% rise when compared to last year’s viewership. On streaming platforms, however, the series is really coming to life — it is currently among the top sixmost-watched series on Paramount+and was the #4 most-watched in February.

The renewal also comes as a breath of fresh air for fans, because due tolast year’s historic strike,Fire Countrystarted production for Season 2 pretty late and will only roll out 10 episodes this time around. A2024-2025 windowfor Season 3 suggests thatFire Countrywill go back to the normal network episode count of 20+ episodes a season. Thiswill be crucial to expand the stories of the Donovan familyand maybe allow for screenwriters to delve into storylines they couldn’t tap into during a shorter season.

‘Fire Country’ Is Barely Getting Started

Season 3 also ensures thatFire Countryremains a mothership to other stories that are already starting to take shape at CBS. In just a few weeks, we’ll meet the characters that will head off to the first potentialFire Countryspin-off. If picked up, itwill starMorena Baccarin(Gotham)and the series will focus on the day-to-day life of a sheriff — which suggests that it will be a procedural more focused on police cases, and also offerplenty of room for crossover events.

Currently,Fire Countryisreaching the halfway point of Season 2. Even though it’s a shortened season, Thieriot — who stars, produces, co-creates and occasionally directs the series — revealed that they managed to have “a lot packed” into 10 episodes. Additionally, series co-creatorTony Phelan(Grey’s Anatomy) revealed that CBS is not opposed to doing withFire Countrywhat has been done withLaw & OrderandOne Chicagoand transforming it into a huge franchise that fans love to follow.
