Put on your spurs and holster that big iron on your hip, because it’s time to head back to the post-apocalyptic world ofFallout. After debutingthe first images from Season 2on Monday, Prime Video’s record-breaking video game adaptation made an appearance at Gamescom Opening Night Live to promote the upcoming December release and share the first teaser. After the finale of Season 1, the Mojave Wasteland awaitsLucy (Ella Purnell) and The Ghoul (Walton Goggins), as they search for answers about their families and the world they live in. At the center of it all is the city of New Vegas, a location packed with opportunity, danger, and sin built in the ruins of its pre-war counterpart.

When viewers last sawFallout’s trio of wasteland dwellers, everyone had gathered fora climactic confrontation at the Griffith Observatory, where Lee Moldaver (Sarita Choudhury) had Lucy’s father, Hank (Kyle MacLachlan), locked up. He was revealed to be a Vault-Tec executive with plenty of blood on his hands after ordering a nuclear strike to destroy the settlement of Shady Sands. Moreover, he has a history with The Ghoul, back when the irradiated man wasstill known as actor Cooper Howard, and Hank was just “young Henry” trying to get an autograph. The reunion between Lucy, Hank, and The Ghoul ends with Maximus (Aaron Moten) knocked out and Hank fleeing towards New Vegas, with the other two survivorsforming a tenuous partnershipto find him and get some much-needed answers.

The footage gives a taste of the new dangers that await in New Vegas. Asthe final moments of Season 1revealed, there will be more mutated monstrosities awaiting in the harsh environment of the Mojave, including theFalloutfranchise’s apex predators, the Deathclaws. More intrigue, however, will lie within the confines of the city itself. Although the show won’tentirely adhere to the eventsof the fan-favoriteFallout: New Vegas, the game’s storywill connect closely to how Season 2 unfolds, and one of its most important characters, the CEO of Rob-Co and the city’s leader, Mr. House, was previously confirmed by showrunnersGraham WagnerandGeneva Robertson-Dworettohave a part to playin the main trio’s misadventures this time around. In short, the new episodes promise to deepen the characters' stories in both the present and the past, and strengthen the connection to the canon of the largerFalloutworld.

‘Fallout’ Season 2 Reassembles Its Talented Post-Apocalyptic Team

Most of the main players will be back to set the world on fire in Season 2, including thetrio of Purnell, Goggins, and Moten. The cast haspreviously featured the talentsofMoisés Arias, Michael Emerson, Leslie Uggams, Frances Turner, Dave Register, Zach Cherry, Johnny Pemberton, Rodrigo Luzzi, Annabel O’Hagan, andXelia Mendes-Jones. With this team and returning creatives like executive producersJonathan NolanandLisa Joy, Goggins has assured that the new episodes will"blow [Season 1] out of the water,“despite the premiere’s universal acclaim.
