However, as Eisner was announced as the studio’s pick, another name was reportedly in the running as well:The Hills Have EyesandPiranhadirectorAlexandre Aja. Recently while promotingThe Nine Lives of Louis Drax, Aja spoke withBloody Disgusting’s Kalyn Corriganabout the project saying he would have tried to do something that would please him as an audience member, and he thinks as a fan of Jason, and as a fan of the genre, he thinks there is some respect to show, with the spirit, and you need to do something that’s absolutely stunning, shocking and absolutely never goofy to make the rightFriday the 13th.
After directing the indie favoriteResolution, followed by the critically acclaimed monster love storySpring, directorsAaron MooreheadandJustin Bensonhave announced their next project. EntitledThe Endless, the mysterious film will star the filmmaking duo while they also work behind the camera. While plot details are being kept under wraps – there is no synopsis on the film’s Facebook page – Moorehead did write on his own Facebook page saying it was time to let everyone know what they have been obsessing over.

Back in May of this year there was some exciting genre news out of Cannes stating thatDame Helen Mirrenhad signed on to star inWinchester, a haunted house story based on the real life of multimillionaire heiress Sarah Winchester. Based on the infamous Winchester house in San Jose, California, Sarah Winchester endured the abrupt deaths of her husband and her child and, per Deadline, “became convinced she had been cursed by the lethal legacy of the gun that won the west.” A skeptical psychiatrist, Eric Price, was sent to the home to evaluate Winchester’s sanity only to find that she may not have been so crazy after all.Winchesterwas set to be the first to shoot on the premises of the actual home that has become known as one of the most haunted places in the world. Now it looks like the final bit of production finances have come through from Screen Australia and the film will be shot on location in Melbourne in early 2017.Winchesterwill be directed byPeter and Michael Spierigwho are currently directingSaw: Legacy.
Over the last few weeks, some exciting video game titles have shown us some brand new trailers. First isThe Bunker,a completely live-action video game for PS4, starringThe Hobbit’sAdam BrownandPenny Dreadful’sSarah Greenewith a story written and developed by gaming talent behindThe Witcher,Broken Sword, andSOMA.The Bunkertells the story of John, the last survivor living in a government bunker after a nuclear attack wiped out England. Then it’sAgonyfrom Madmind Studio. Due in 2017, the game, influenced bySilent HillandSiren, sees players pay as “a historical figure who does not remember anything but pain and a unclear image of a mysterious Goddess." During the game, the hero is going to try to gather information about himself and his past by talking with martyrs and exploring hostile environments.

It’s official:Stranger Thingsis coming back for a slightly longer second seasonand it would appear that most of our favorite characters from Hawkins will be coming too. When the announcement of the renewal hit it did so alongside a trailer that was filled with potential clues for the new episodes which will take place in the 1980’s and will continue the story of Mike, Will, Lucas and Dustin. Details are being teased by both theDuffer Brothersand producers with Entertainment Weekly having the Duffers confirm will be returning to The Upside Down and meeting new characters along the way. As they are thinking of the new season like a sequel, The Duffers have citedJames Cameronas a major influence. And speaking to the tone and the approach to season two, producerDan Cohentold Yahoo, “We’ll be doing more than just a rehash of Season 1. We’re coming back with a few new characters, expanding storylines and mythologies, so it’ll feel like the stakes are raised and more is going on and really delivering on the promise and pushing for more,” says Cohen. “We want a sequel that feels like it’s bigger and badder and darker, while answering more of the questions and getting deeper into what’s going on."

If Labor Day marks the unofficial end of summer, then today marks the unofficial beginning of Halloween season! With our favorite holiday less than eight weeks away, the pumpkin spice lattes have come out of hibernation as we all long for sweaters at nighttime and leaves falling from the trees. We live in Southern California so it’s 90 degrees here basically all the time but that doesn’t mean we can’t start getting into the Halloween spirit!
