Warner Bros. has released a new trailer for the upcoming dramaCollateral Beauty. Written byAllan Loeb(Rock of Ages) and directed byDavid Frankel(The Big Year), the film starsWill Smithas a successful New York advertising executive who suffers a personal tragedy and all but retreats from his daily life. His concerned friends try to bring him back, while he seeks answers by writing letters to Love, Time, and Death—only to receive responses in the form of personal encounters.

This new trailer isn’t too much different from the first, and I continue to be surprised at just how impressive this cast is. The story itself seemsverycloying and I’m pretty sure I’ve figured out the “twist”—which, if true, will definitely turn me off this whole movie. But the project began promisingly enough, withMe and Earl and the Dying GirlfilmmakerAlfonso Gomez-Rejoninitially set to direct before bowing out at the last minute over creative differences.

That said, Frankel has a pretty robust track record. The Devil Wears Prada,Marley & Me, andHope Springsall have their cheesy moments, but on the whole are pleasant, enjoyable films. WhileCollateral Beautydoesn’t seem to be much of an awards player, it could be a pretty big family hit over the holiday movie season.
