According to directorSteven Knightin a recent interview with The Playlist, the Netflix original will first premiere in theaters before landing on the streaming platform. Given the OG series' popularity, Knight commented on the importance of providing a communal viewing experience for fans with the upcoming movie.
“I really want them to be watching this all together in one building because the communication has all been virtual, which is fine.But I do want this to be in cinemas so that people can sit there together and watch this thing happen.”

One of the major releases coming out of SXSW isThe Accountant 2, the sequel toBen Affleck’s action thriller. During an interview with Collider’s ownSteve Weintraub, directorGavin O’Connorteased his plans for making a third film in advance of the second installment’s theatrical release.
“There’s always been three. Since post-production, since I started editing the first one. I didn’t know Bill [Dubuque]. We met on the first movie. I got the script from Lynette Howell Taylor, and then from the script that I initially got, I started working with Bill. I think any filmmaker’s going to do it. You get a script, you respond to it. How does it affect you personally? But then you keep climbing inside of it. It becomes your own aesthetic and sensibility.”
The Accountant 2will follow Christian Wolff (Affleck) as he embarks on a mission to solve a Treasury chief’s murder alongside his estranged brother (played byJon Bernthal). The sequel will premiere on the big screen on April 25, and according toNate Richard’s review out of SXSW, it “finds an even balance between the action and the drama.”
