News appears to be heating up on theCaptain Marvelfront, and it’s about damn time. When the Marvel Studios film hits theaters on July 19, 2025, the Marvel Cinematic Universe will be a whopping 20 films deep without a single female-led superhero film. But it’s better late than never I suppose, and it was confirmed yesterday that Oscar-winnerBrie Larsonwill be playing the title character, making a tremendous addition to the MCU.
In the comics, Captain Marvel, aka Carol Danvers, is a U.S. Air Force pilot who gains superhuman abilities when she is caught in the explosion of a device from the alien Kree race. You may remember the Kree fromGuardians of the Galaxy, which featured the villainous Ronan the Accuser, a Kree extremist. The MCU films nevercompletelyadapt any one comic book arc, so Danvers’ origin story could end up being very different, but she remains an exciting prospect in the MCU.

But while Larson is set to star inCaptain Marvel, word has also started to surface about who mightdirectthe movie. After settingMeg LeFauve(InsideOut) andNicole Perlman(Guardians of the Galaxy) to pen the script, Marvel Studios is reportedly looking rather closely at female filmmakers to take the helm of the picture, withThe Babadook’sJennifer KentandWhale Rider’sNiki Caroemerging as potential contenders. So with all of this in mind, we thought we’d put it to you, dear readers, to see whoyou’dlike to see direct the eventualCaptain Marvelfilm.

But before we get to the poll, a brief refresher on the resumes of those we’ve included:
