Santa’s Watching & He’ll Punish Us All

While Campbell has been acting for over a decade with TV roles inSupernaturalandiZombieunder his belt, he burst onto the mainstream scene withHalloween Endsin 2022. The final part inDavid Gordon Green’sHalloweenlegacy trilogyhas been one of the most controversial horror films in recent memory. Campbell was at the center of that as his characterCorey Cunninghambecame a tragic protégé of sorts to Michael Myers. Regardless of your personal thoughts on the movie itself, Campbell showcased his killer range in that risk-taking trilogy capper. He’s forever bonded to the genre thanks toHalloween, but since then he has stuck to horror thanks tohis appearance in Sabrina Carpenter’smusic video for “Taste”last year, where the actor played the ill-fated ex-boyfriend in aDeath Becomes Her-inspired scenario. Campbell alsorecently played a small partinOsgood Perkins’latest horror comedy,The Monkey. Because of that, there couldn’t be a better actor to take on the Billy persona.

In the original 1984 slasher,Billy witnesses the murder of his parents as a young boy at the hands of a criminal dressed as Santa Claus. Years later, that repressed trauma boils over when he’s forced to play Santa for his job at a local toy store. He snaps to the point where he goes on a murderous rampage in town. His mission is to punish all the “naughty” peoplehe comes across. That premise of a killer Santa would help it become a cult classic, while also getting it pulled from theaters quickly due to outcry about its mature seasonal subject matter.
