10Jadyn Cree
Team Bublé
The Voiceis not always known for legacy contestants, but Season 27 has one!Jadyn Creeis the daughter ofBryan Olesen, the third-place finisher of Season 25. While his coach was John Legend, Jadyn opted to join Team Bublé when she had only had the options of the reigning champion and the season’s rookie coach. Her performance ofParamore’s “Still Into You” showcased a punk-pop vibe paired perfectly with herBillie Eilishstyle. When she reached the Battles, she was able to prove her worth in an out-of-the-box performance of “Danny’s Song” byLoggins and Messina.
Drawing on her punk pop inspiration, her rousing rendition of"Keep Holding On" by Avril Lavignewas enough for her coach to have confidence in her potential for the Playoffs. As the season’s punk princess, there’s definitely a lane for her in the music world. Having her father to guide her through the stress, with Michael Bublé as her coach, she’s clearly in capable hands. As long as she continues to sing music that fits her aesthetic,Jadyn could be a dark horse and spoiler for some of the other contestants.
9Kolby Cordell
Kolby Cordell’s journey on Season 27 has been quite interesting to watch. As a two-chair turn recipient, Kolby started his run as a member of Team Legend.He had a shocking victory during the Battles, beating out Latin singerPablo Herrera. But when it came down to the Knockouts, his coach made the tough decision to keep another singer on his roster for the playoffs instead.
It was not the right decision, but thankfully, The Voice is equipped with some twists and turns that allow singers to stay in the competition. With one steal left, Adam was ready to pounce the moment that the EGOT winner let Kolby go. Kolby Cordell has proven he has soul. His vocals have been solid all season long, but his competition with similar artists on other teams may make his path to the crown the hardest. Should Adam Levine decide to use one of his two slots on Kolby, he has to hope that artists who fill a similar space have been eliminated.
Team Legend
BD.ii’s journey to get toThe Voicewas one of the most unique of the bunch. With basketball a major part of his life, it was an injury that veered him back into the world of music. For his Blind Audition, he tackledMiguel’s “Adorn,” which was full of swagger. With such potential in his artistry, Kelsea Ballerini blocked Adam from even being in contention as a coach. But it didn’t matter;BD.ii enrolled in John Legend’s school of music.
While his Battle Round performance gave him a victory, it wasn’t his best showing. And then, John Legend’s decision was put to the ultimate test in the Knockouts. The decision between BD.ii and Kolby Cordell was brutal. They both excelled for different reasons, but proved that whoever John Legend chose could potentially lead him to victory. With BD.ii as his champion, John Legend has a strong R&B artist on his team. His performance of “Back at One” byBrian McKnightgave viewers a chance to hear how BD.ii could be the perfect throwback artist. BD.ii’s best path to victory is to ensure he is the only R&B singer left in the competition.
7Angie Rey
One of the biggest surprises this season is the lack of female country artists entering the Playoffs. While she may not be down home Honkytonk country,Angie Reyhas a strong country presence. By being the only country female singer, Angie has an exceptional chance to build a backing of country fans. As long as Michael Bublé gives one of his spots to her. When she started her journey, it began with a Kelsea Ballerini song that captivated the artist herself. As part of Team Kelsea, it seemed as if she had the best coach for her to enter the world of country music.
For her Battle Round performance, Angie Rey had another shot at showing how her voice fits modern country musicwith Maren Morris' “Girl.“Her victory led her to the Knockouts, where Kelsea was forced to make an awfully difficult decision. Her rendition of “Dirt Cheap” byCody Johnsonwould likely have been the winner in any other pairing, but up against Iris Herrera, there wasn’t much else she could do than hope someone stole her. In came Michael Bublé. While it might be wild for the Canadian crooner to give a spot to a new contestant to his team, if he wants to win, he needs to maintain the country presence on the show. Regardless,Angie Rey deserves the praise as she could slip into the same world her former coach currently dominates. Angie Rey could be the future of female country music.
6Ari Camille
What a sensational artistAri Camilleis. She started on Team Legend, temporarily left, but she’s going into the Playoffs back with the coach she started with. In a season where herBattle Round mentor was Coco Jones, one can’t help but think that Ari Camille could follow down a very similar path. The 21-year-old singer from Chicago has a background in theater, with aspirations to act, but her voice is perfectly suited for the world of R&B.
In nearly every performance she has given, she’s showcased exactly where her voice fits in the world of music. From serving an exceptional performance of “I Wanna Be Down” byBrandyto a spot-securing rendition of “Love Like This” byFaith Evans, Ari is the complete package. After she wrongly lost the Knockout performance to Bryson Battle, Adam Levine swooped in to save her. But up against his young stud, it was another losing fight in the Knockout. Luckily for her original coach, Ari was back up for grabs, allowing John Legend to extend her life in the game.Ari Camille is the queen of nine lives this season.But she never should have been put in that position. Now, it’s up to John Legend to have faith in her and allow the audience to do the rest.
5Britton Moore
As the season’s biggest heartthrob,Britton Moorealso happens to be the season’s underdog. It’s not as if he’s not talented, he’s an underdog in the sense that he continues to shock us performance after performance. The adorable Texas-native mesmerized the judges with his exceptional rendition of “Yellow” byColdplay,earning a coveted four-chair turn. Performance after performance, he has consistently impressed everyone with his charm and reliability.
He’s been an underdog in a way, buthe’s proving himself through his mainstream appeal.During his Knockout performance of “Free” byZac Brown Bandwhich included a critique that he could self-auto-tune because his pitch was flawless. How Britton tackles his next performance will be crucial for his next steps. Having versatility as an artist, Britton Moore could be the next country superstar, or he could be acrossover pop act like Benson Boone. Whatever he chooses to do, Britton Moore’s impact on the show will seep into the real world.
4Iris Herrera
Team Kelsea
Iris Herrerahas been the queen of tricks this season of The Voice. But that would never have happened if she wasn’t officially the comeback queen. Last season, Iris Herrerashowed up to audition forMichael Bublé,Snoop Dogg, Gwen Stefani, andReba McEntire, but her Blind Audition performance of"Gypsy” by Fleetwood Macwas not enough to garner a turn. Feeling as if she was too reminiscent ofStevie Nicks, she was advised to bring herself next time around. She returned with a vengeance in an exceptionally risky Blind Audition of “You Are My Sunshine.”
With her own twist on the classic children’s song, Iris finally captured the attention of some coaches. She stuck with her gut, selecting Kelsea Ballerini as her coach, and she hasn’t looked back since. Her Battle withSimone MarijictoLizzy McAlpine’s “Ceilings” was one of the best duets of the season. Her coach felt she was the stronger option, giving her the win. So, when she was up against Angie Rey, it became yet another difficult decision for Kelsea Ballerini. Her personal connection toRay LaMontagne’s “Jolene” put her over the edge.It’s very likely Kelsea Ballerini will go all in on Iris.There is a really exciting story that makes Iris a real contender. For Kelsea Ballerini to follow Michael Bublé as a back-to-back rookie winner, Iris is her best shot.
If there’s one word to describeRenzo, it’s cool. Renzo is a genre-bending artist extraordinaire. He dazzled during his Blind Audition with his cover of “Simple Man” byLynyrd Skynyrd. Knowing he would likely be a perfect fit to work with Adam Levine, the OG coach was immediately blocked by John Legend. He’s lucky as Renzo selected him as his coach. And he hasn’t looked back. From classic rock to reggae, his Battle Round performance of “Is This Love” byBob Marleyallowed him to stretch his musical wealth.
To lock himself into the Playoffs, Renzo shocked the world with his performance of “Happier Than Ever” by Billie Eilish. The unique artistry that Renzo brings to this competition is what could send him straight to the finals. John Legend loves him and would easily champion him if he has full faith in him.Renzo’s path to victory is to bring out another facet of his sound.Maybe it’s country or kpop with the Renzo twist. Whatever it will be, expect it to be special.
2Conor James
There is something absolutely enigmatic about Conor James.The moment he opened his mouth with hisunique take on “I Say a Little Prayer,“it knocked the socks off the judges. His four-chair turn allowed him to pick his fate, and his destiny was with Adam Levine. They were a formidable duo as Adam seemed to know how to guide his powerhouse vocalist. He dominatedTinika Wyatton “How Deep Is Your Love” during the Battles. And then, in the Battles,his rendition of “Forever Young"proved that he is radio-worthyright now.
Conor James has easily one of the best voices of the season. He can literally sing anything. Any genre, any style, he’s your guy.If the show is about honoring the strongest vocalist, Conor James is your winner.Where he lands in the world of music afterward, well, that’s up in the air. But the contestant on Season 27 is proving he knows exactly who he is.
1Lucia Flores-Wiseman
Lucia Flores-Wisemanis hands-down best overall artist and singer this season.Her voice is unlike anyone in the competition or in the world.With or without a guitar, her ability to perform is spectacular. She is unafraid of taking a risk, as proven in her Blind Audition. Her haunting rendition of “La Llarona” earned a four-chair turn, where she knew her best path to success was with Adam Levine. Because her versatility as a vocalist is her best attribute, pairing up with a coach with a vast knowledge of music was her strongest path to the top.
She was put to the test in the Battles with “My Funny Valentine,” where she once again proved that her voice can fit anything, even a classic standard. By the Battles, she came in with aBenson Boone track, revealing that she knows the industry and what’s hot today. She’s willing to put her stamp on anything and make it her own. That’s the mark of an artist. It would be beyond shocking if Adam doesn’t select Lucia as one of his two slots for the live shows.The only way she doesn’t win is if America likes someone better.
