Full disclosure: I’ve never seenThe Boy, so maybe this is a sequel to a great film. However, judging solely by this trailer, it looks like a spin onChild’s Playbut without the manic energy....

One of the more difficult parts of being an avid film lover is resisting the temptation to judge a movie by its trailer. Trailers, much like movies, are created largely from a series of formats and mini-narrative structures that have been built out over the years to the point now, as much withBatman v SupermanasDoctor Strange, that the trailer essentially leads you through a severely abridged version of the plot.
